Cockroft wins first GB track gold

Hannah Cockroft decimated the field to win Great Britain's first gold of the Paralympics track and field competition in London's 2012 Olympic Stadium.

The wheelchair athlete from Halifax burst clear after 60 metres to take the T34 100m title in a new Paralympic record time of 18.05 seconds.

"I've been waiting four years for that," said the 20-year-old is also racing in the 200m on Thursday.

"I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I crossed the finish line."

Butterworth silver but Cundy denied restart

British favourite Jody Cundy's bid to secure 1km time trial gold ended in controversy and anger as officials denied the GB rider a restart.

Jon-Allan Butterworth took silver for GB behind Spain's Alfonso Cabello as Cundy raged in the centre of the track.

Cundy, the C4 world record holder and world champion, had appealed for a second attempt as his rear wheel slipped leaving the starting gate.

Oliver and Sam Hynd win swimming medals

Oliver Hynd claimed S8 400m freestyle silver ahead of sibling and defending champion Sam, who won bronze.

China's Yinan Wang won the race in four minutes 27.11 secs, over half a second ahead of the younger Hynd brother.

"It was a tough race out there, they went out really quick and I just had to hold on in there," admitted Oliver.

British teenagers Chloe Davies and Jessica-Jane Applegate will hope for medal success in their 200m freestyle (17:56), while teenage star Hannah Russell goes in the S12 100m butterfly (19:09) and the men's freestyle relay squad (20:25) will aim to retain the title they won in thrilling fashion in Beijing.

Pistorius second quickest for 100m final

Defending T44 100m Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius qualified with the second quickest time for Thursday's 100m final in his first appearance since his surprise defeat in the 200m.

Pistorius was outraged by the length of his opponent's blades after losing to Brazilian Alan Olivera in the 200m.

GB sailors guarantee medals

Britain will win Paralympic sailing medals for the first time ever after guaranteeing at least silver and bronze on the penultimate day in Weymouth.

Helena Lucas leads the 2.4mR class, and her nine-point advantage over Germany's Heiko Kroger ensures at least silver heading into Thursday's final race.

David Weir eases through 800m heat

Britain's David Weir showed no ill effects from another sleep-deprived night as he qualified with ease for Thursday's T54 800m final.

Weir won his second gold of London 2012 late on Tuesday evening in the 1500m, and was back on the track hours later.

Mel Clarke overjoyed after winning archery silver

Norfolk archer Mel Clarke insisted there was no sense of disappointment after narrowly missing out on a gold medal at the Paralympics.

The Worcester-based 29-year-old was beaten by Great Britain team-mate Dani Brown but added a silver to her bronze from Beijing four years ago.

Sophie Christiansen gold seals GB record

Dressage star Sophie Christiansen became the first Briton to win three golds at the London Paralympics.

The 24-year-old, riding Janeiro 6, posted a huge score of 84.750% to take victory in the freestyle dressage Grade 1a test ahead of Laurentia Tan of Singapore and Ireland's Helen Kearney.

Earlier, Sophie Wells and Deb Criddle both won silver medals.
